A scrumptious weekend breakfast biscuit.
2 cups all purpose flour | |
2 1/2 tsp baking powder | |
1/2 tsp baking soda | |
1/2 stick unsalted butter | |
1 tsp kosher salt | |
1/2 lb. breakfast sausage, cooked | |
4 oz. sharp cheddar cheese, shredded | |
2 tbsp. green onion, chopped | |
1 cup cold buttermilk | |
Honey, warmed |
A perfect blend of savory and sweet for breakfast.
1. | Preheat oven to 400˚F. |
2. | Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. |
3. | In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. |
4. | Grate the butter into the bowl and toss to combine evenly. |
5. | Fold in the sausage, cheddar cheese and green onion. |
6. | Add in the buttermilk and stir to combine into a moist dough. |
7. | Using a rolling pin, roll the dough into a rectangle. |
8. | Then, fold the dough over in half and cluster dough into balls to create individual biscuits. |
9. | Transfer the biscuits to the prepped baking sheet. |
10. | Brush the tops of the biscuits with cream. |
11. | Bake approx. 15 - 17 min., until the tops are a golden brown. |
12. | Remove from oven, and let cool for 5 min. Drizzle the tops with warm honey. |
